A Simple Look at a Not-So-Simple Life

Mish-Mash of Holidays

I find it interesting that my children are learning a lot about Hanukkah in their public school. Mia in particular has talked about it a lot, asking every day which day of Hanukkah today is. Interesting, since we are not a Jewish family. Today after worship I saw her studying our Advent wreath at the front of the sanctuary. All the candles had been extinguished and very few people were still in the room. She picked up the candle lighter and pretended to light the candles saying, “We light the candle of Hanukkah day 1. Now we light the candle of Hanukkah day 2 . . .” Funny kid! Wish I knew what that sharp little brain of hers was comprehending about Advent and Hanukkah.

  1. I suspect she is internalizing a sense of the mystery of God and how God reveals God's self to us in so many ways..such sweetness!
