The Best Story Ever
My four-year-old son, sticky with sweat and candy from the Easter Egg Hunt, was anxious to tell me a story as he prepared to hop in the tub tonight. His speech is fast and sometimes interrupted by minor bouts of stuttering, especially when he is excited. And this story excited him.
“Mama. Jesus died on the cross!”
“Yes, son. He did.”
“An . . an . . and they put him in a dark cave!”
“An . . and the angels, they said, ‘HE’S ALIVE!!”
“Wow! You know the best story EVER – the Easter story!”
(With a pleased-as-punch grin) “Yeah I DO!”
